British Airways Flight To Accra Cancelled Over Excess Luggage Fears

British Airways cancelled its flight to Accra from Heathrow yesterday the 29 of November and rescheduled it to depart 11am today the 30 of November 2021 with the estimated time of arrival in Accra set for 6pm, Asaase News has gathered.

Some disappointed passengers who were supposed to be on the cancelled flight have told Asaase News that British Airways informed them that the reason for the cancelation was that Ghanaian passengers were carrying more than two carry-on bags on board the flight.

“You won’t believe what’s happening.  Every incoming BA flight is delayed because passengers carry more than the two carry-on bags (plus laptop bag) they are allowed” one passenger told Asaase News.

“Every British Airways flight (BA 81) from Heathrow to Accra have suffered delays. Sometimes as much as a two-hour delay as the crew try to sort out excess luggage in the cabins” another passenger said.

Most airlines including British Airways, allow their passengers to have two carry-on bags which includes laptop bags of passengers.

Asaase News’ checks has revealed that over the last four weeks, literally every British Airways flight has been delayed as a result of this phenomenon of Ghanaian passengers carry too many bags on board Accra bound British Airways flights.

British Airways on its baggage essentials page on its website, www.britishaways.com, invites its passengers to enjoy one of the most generous allowances around with two items of cabin baggage and numerous checked baggage options. “There’s plenty of room for pushchairs, wheelchairs, skis and saxophones too” the website says.

“Handbags or laptop-sized bags are guaranteed to travel in the cabin as hand baggage. On busy flights, you may be asked to check in your larger cabin bag”.
