Three persons have been arrested in connection with a bizarre incident in which the two ears of a 19-year-old former student of the Wa T.I. Ahmadiyya Senior High School, Amina Abdul Karim Donlaa, were chopped off while she was asleep. Amina is a daughter of the Wa East Constituency Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Alhaji Abdul-Karim Donlaa. The three suspects, comprising two students of the University for Development Studies (UDS) and another person whose identity has been withheld by the police, are all tenants in the 18-room compound house at Do-pieni, a suburb of Wa, where the crime was allegedly committed. Relations of the victim told Daily Guide that the three suspects, according to the police, are to assist them in their investigations over the mysterious disappearance of the two ears. Giving an account of what happened, an elder brother of the SHS leaver (name withheld) disclosed that the incident occurred at about 1:30am Tuesday dawn while the victim was sleeping on a student�s mattress on the main compound of the house. According to him, the victim claimed that everything appeared to her as if in a nightmare when the main gate to the house was opened by someone she could hardly identify, after which she could no longer tell what happened. The brother however revealed that early Tuesday, other tenants of the house woke up to see patches of blood dotted around where she had slept, while she was still lying there very weak. She could hardly rise from the mattress despite calls by the other tenants, prompting them to try raising her up, only for them to realize that her two ears had been chopped off while she bled profusely. The veil she used to cover her hair was still on her head and fell off only after the neighbours had lifted her, with blood stains on the mattress as a result of the chopped ears. Her bloodstained cover cloth was however found in the bathroom, giving an indication that the incident may have taken place there. Her relations are not ruling out the involvement of a tenant. Residents within the Wa municipality who have been gripped by fear over the mystery, besieged the Wa Government Hospital to catch a glimpse of the victim. Sources told Daily Guide that doctors at the facility were seriously working to stabilize the victim.
