Ghanaian Students Evacuated To Romania From War-torn Ukraine

Ghanaian students living in the city of Chernivtsi, Ukraine, have arrived safely in Romania.

They were evacuated following the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration’s arrangement for Ghanaian students to leave Ukraine.

According to the Foreign Affairs Ministry, due to the difficulty in airlifting the students, as a result of the shutdown of Ukraine's airspace, it arranged for them to be evacuated by land through Belarus, Moldova, Hungary and Slovakia.

The students who have arrived in Romania will be catered for by the Romanian government, according to arrangements made by Ghana’s Foreign Affairs Ministry.

In a tweet by the National Union of Ghana Students (NUGS) on Saturday, 26 February 2022, the association confirmed the safe arrival of the students in Romania.
