Morocco Moves To Strengthen Ties With Africa

Head of the Morocco International Cooperation Agency H.E. Mr. Mohammed Methqal has mentioned that the Kingdom of Morocco under the Supreme authority of His Royal Majesty King Mohamed VI has made South-South Cooperation one of the main pillars of its foreign policy, as well as a determinant of its international actions.

A team of 8 Ghanaian journalists on the 7th of March 2022 held discussions with the Head of the Morocco International Cooperation Agency, H. E. Mohammed Methqal as part of a one-week tourism visit to the Kingdom of Morroco.

He further stressed that Morocco does not view Africa as a market for only the sale and promotion of Moroccan products, but rather a forum for joint action, for promoting mutual development on the African continent.

H. E. Mr. Mohammed Methqal also added His Royal Majesty has since assumption of power visited 29 Counties, signed over a thousand agreements, built fertiliser production plants in Ethiopia and Nigeria, launched a gas pipeline project with Nigeria which extends to 13 Counties as part of a national commitment to deepen intra-Africa relations.

Currently, the Kingdom of Morroco provides some 14,000 scholarships to foreign students annually and focuses on expanding the scope of assistance to more neighbouring African Countries.

In terms of commerce, the Kingdom of Morocco is deepening partnerships with the private sector, CSOs and other sister Countries such as Ghana where a Moroccan bank (Bank of Africa) has been established in line with His Majesty's International Cooperation Agenda.

Participating Journalists also asked questions and commended the Kingdom for its continuous support to Ghana through the provision of scholarships

The team of Journalists were led by Dr. Evans Duah, a chartered accountant, chartered financial economist and a Lecturer at Akenten Appiah-Menka University of Skills Training and Entrepreneurial Development (AAMUSTED) a former student who studied Business Administration and worked as a banker in the Kingdom of Morocco.
