Chairman Wontumi To Submit a $3.1billion Bid To Buy Chelsea FC

Outspoken businessman and politician, Bernard Antwi Boasiako (alias Chairman Wontumi) is working on a $3.1billion bid to purchase Chelsea FC.

The Ashanti Regional Chairman of the ruling New Patriotic Party(NPP) cum businessman has instructed his legal team and transactional advisors to submit the bid to the London-based world champions by the end of the week.

Chairman Wontumi’s bid would be regarded as credible in the circumstances, as the Russian owner, Roman Abramovich looks for a quick sale or is likely to face a harsh sanction by the UK government due to his affiliate with Russian President, Vladimir Putin.

In an official letter sighted by Peacefmonline.com from the Wontumi Group of Companies to the Chelsea Football Club, the business tycoon said his firm is ready for discussions to own the club he has a huge affinity with over the years.

“My legal team and transactional advisors are ready to engage in negotiations,” a portion of his letter reads.

Abramovich instructed The Raine Group to find a buyer for Chelsea last week after his initial plan to hand the club over to the Chelsea Foundation charity trustees collapsed in the face of their doubts and opposition from the Charity Commission.

The American merchant bank is understood to have around 20 expressions of interest, but only half a dozen of them are regarded as credible buyers.

Numerous parties from all over the world have since expressed interest in buying the club, with the Swiss-American duo of Hansjorg Wyss and LA Dodgers part-owner Todd Boehly having already submitted a bid.
