Eschew Examination Malpractices, They Lead To Corruption - Prof Oduro Owusu

The President of the Presbyterian University College - Ghana (PUCG), Prof. Oduro Owusu, has admonished Students of the University to shun away from all forms of malpractice during examinations and implored the students to take their studies very serious.

According to him, cheating in examination when not addressed well end up for one to be a corrupt person in future.

The President of the University said, the PUCG stands for discipline which stems from the holistic education it offers, as he stressed on its Motto, "Discipline in Leadership"

Prof Oduro made this disclosure, during the 19th matriculation ceremony of the University to usher in 702 fresh students into various undergraduate programmes for 2021-2022 Acadamic Year at the Akuapem Akropong Campus. 419 Females and 283 males.

He advised the matriculants to be of good behavior at all times and study diligently including regular attendance of lectures and all university functions such as life value workshops and be more discipline as he believes discipline is important to every human society since it inculcates in the individual the ability to choose and to do what is right at all times.

Prof Oduro enumerating the qualities of a discipline individual, he said a disciplined individual is able to manage emotions, persevere against all odds, selfless, hardworking and motivated nothing that such a person has a good interpersonal relationship with others and does not engage in negativities, respect authority and obeys all rules and regulations.

And all these qualities are integral for the success of every individual and community.

And this is the aim of the University, to train students to acquire certain skills and aptitudes that will change how they think and act, leading to self control, creativity and innovation.

He therefore called on the government to support educational institutions especially private ones through the provision and distribution of laptops and tablets to students and expand affordable and reliable internet access to schools in the rural areas as part of the digitization Agenda.

Prof. Oduro Owusu added that the approach of the University is to expose their students to experiential hand on training throughout their study years with partnership with industries to ensure that their students graduate with innovative products to show.

In that regard, the university is committed to pioneering the commercialization of research ideas into products through tested incubation and entrepreneurship, therefore every candidate coming in to the engineering school enters with a project in mind, work at it through rigorous research and graduate with product in hand and as such.
