I Nearly Beat Up a Fuel Attendant - Nana Ofori Opens Up On Fuel Prices

For many Ghanaians, the consistent fuel price increases are a major concern since it has a huge ripple effect on the economy.

On Ghana's economy today, the one thing that could be giving people headache is the fuel prices as drivers; both private and commercial, are crying and traders as well as buyers also complain bitterly because it almost looks like, minute by minute, commodity prices are hitting astronomical limits.

Sharing his experience on how the fuel prices have impacted his life and the economy, the National Chairman of the Progressive People's Party (PPP), Nana Ofori Owusu recounted an incident that happened at one of the filling stations between him and a fuel attendant.

He said he nearly beat up a fuel attendant just because of the increment.

"I annoyingly held the fuel attendant's shirt, ready to unleash my rage on him because I had told him to give me fuel worth 400 cedis and it didn't reach even a quarter of my fuel tank. When I fill up my tank with GHC 400, I know where it reaches. So, when it didn't reach the limit, I thought he had filled in air. I became furious and was about to engage the attendant but he immediately showed me the fuel prices," he stated, adding it was at that point that he realized it wasn't the fault of the attendant.

Nana Ofori Owusu expressed worry over the situation and asked government to resolve it.

''We have to be careful. We are all under serious pressure. Salaries are not going up but the effect of this thing on the average person is so serious that you can't even begin to understand how people are going through it," he said.

He disclosed this during a panel discussion on Peace FM's morning programme 'Kokrokoo'.
