Ghana Placed In Pot 1 As CAF Releases Procedures For AFCON 2023 Qualifiers Draw

The Confederation of African Football has released the procedures for the AFCON qualifiers draw to be held on Tuesday, April 19, 2022 in Johannesburg. 

Ghana's Black Stars, who were eliminated at the group stages of the last edition has been placed in pot 1 due to the latest FIFA rankings.

The West African giants, currently ranked 11th on the continent join champions Senegal, Nigeria, Morocco, Egypt, Cameroon and Burkina Faso in pot 1.

The seedings are based on the rankings with 48 teams set to be group in 12 different groups of 4 teams each.

The winners and runners up of each group automatically qualify for the Africa Cup of Nations to be held in Ivory Coast in June 2023.

Senegal are the current holders of the title after beating Egypt in the finals in Cameroon early this year.
