Black Stars Coaching Job Pressure Can Kill You - Kwesi Appiah

Former Black Stars coach Kwesi Appiah has revealed that the pressure of handling the senior national team can break you down.

According to the ex-Asante Kotoko player, there is pressure from different angles when coaching the Black Stars, insisting players, agents and members of the FA all have interest in the team.

Kwesi Appiah was replaced by C.K Akonnor in 2020 after his second spell in charge of the Ghana national team, and has since been inactive.

“There are so many pressures you deal with at the National team level. Some with the GFA, clubs, agents, the players themselves coming with their egos, and so if you don’t take a break [and] you want to stay under this pressure, you will die,” Appiah told TV3.

Kwesi Appiah's first stint in charge of the national team, saw him become the first indigenous coach to qualify Ghana to the World Cup .

He also coached the team at the 2013 Africa Cup of Nations in South Africa, where Ghana finished fourth.
