The Ghana National Education Campaign Coalition (GNECC) has intensified its campaign on ‘Inclusive Education’ by calling on the government to provide equal opportunities for the Ghanaian child with and without disabilities, and of diverse backgrounds and abilities to learn together in the same classroom as well as interact socially with each other.

GNECC has noted that in pursuing the Sustainable Development Goal; SDG4, which seeks to ensure inclusive and equitable quality education for all, there is the need to advocate for the effective implementation of the Inclusive Education policy and this, GNECC is aiming to achieve by drawing government’s attention to special strategic policies such as creating conducive teaching and learning environment for children with special needs, the Girl-Child, children from rural areas and among others.

This was revealed at a forum held on Wednesday by GNECC and its working partners as well as stakeholders in the educational sector to map up strategic plans or policies to achieve its desired goals.

National Coordinator for the Ghana National Education Campaign Coalition (GNECC), Madam Bernice Mpere-Gyekye mentioned specifically that the most important part of their Strategic Plan is the need for the Girl-Child to be in school, especially during her menstrual period and how GNECC can empower all parents so they can manage their Girl-Child.

She lamented how the Male-Child is sometimes left out when considering educational policies.

Meanwhile, GNECC Fellow, Mr. Charles Y. Aheto-Tsegah, admitted that the Network for some time now became inactive due to a few challenges but has assured its partners and stakeholders to continue supporting them.
