KEDA Ceramics And Herbert Mensah Donate To Muslim Feast

Former Kotoko chairman Herbert Mensah in partnership with KEDA Ceramics Ghana Ltd. has donated several household consumable products including a bullock to the Muslim community in Kumasi for the celebration of Eid ul-Adha, the holiest festival of the feast on the Islamic calendar.

As a philanthropic tradition established by Mr. Herbert Mensah, a Christian, who is also a business associate of KEDA Ceramics, the Chinese company joined hands as they do every year to support the celebrations in the Zongo to enable them to enjoy their festival of sacrifices.

Eid ul-Adha or the Festival of Sacrifice is celebrated to commemorate the obedience of Abraham to Allah across the globe in every Islamic community.

The Festival of Sacrifice also marks the end of the yearly Hajj pilgrimage to the holy land of Mecca.

The yearly sacrificial ritual is considered a time for Muslims to think of others as well as repent from one’s sins committed in the past.

Muslims sacrifice sheep and cattle to represent Ibrahim’s (Abraham) commitment to God, where Allah came to him in a dream and asked him to sacrifice his only son as an act of obedience to God.

Participation in the sacrificial festival is mandatory for all obedient Muslims that can afford an animal.
It is also mandatory for people with money to give an amount to charity, so that less fortunate people can afford to join in the celebration as well.

The former Kumasi Asante Kotoko chairman has related warmly with the Zongo community in Kumasi since the years he was in charge of one of Ghana’s biggest soccer clubs and has since maintained the relationship with the support of corporate sponsors like KEDA Ceramics, a subsidiary of SUNDA international, a Chinese manufacturing and distribution company for household consumable products.

This year, King Edward of Hello FM in Kumasi, together with Prince Osei, Kessben FM, made the donation of a bullock worth 15000 ghc on behalf of KEDA and Herbert Mensah. Other household consumable products from Sunda International for the celebration of EID ul-Adha 2022 was also donated.

In a message delivered on his behalf, Herbert Mensah said the yearly gesture of donation to the Muslim community is in line with his long-held tradition of keeping a bond with the Zongo community that has always supported him, especially during his days as Kotoko chairman and his charity activities with the May 9 Foundation.

Herbert Mensah also emphasized that KEDA Ceramics, one of the biggest manufacturers and distributors of ceramic tiles in Ghana and West Africa, joined him in supporting the Muslim community because the Chinese company shares in his philanthropic values and compassion for the poor in the Ghanaian society that has supported the growth and development of their business in the country.
