We Are Working To Address Challenges Of Water Supply – GWCL

The Ghana Water Company Limited (GWCL) says it is working around the clock to address the water supply challenges facing residents in some parts of the Kumasi metropolis.

A statement signed by Mr Ebenezer Padi Narh Ashanti Regional Public Relations Officer and issued in Kumasi said GWCL engineers and their counterparts from the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) were tirelessly working to restore power supply to the Barekese Treatment Plant and Achiase Booster Station.

There had been power outages in these two main water treatment and supply points which served Kumasi and its adjoining communities in the Ashanti region.

The affected areas had since July 06, this year, not had water supply and this is causing serious challenges among residents, some of whom had had to rely on private tanker operators for water supply at exorbitant fees.

“The Management of the GWCL wishes to inform our consumers and the public, that our inability to supply water to the Kumasi Metropolis was as a result of ECG’s inability to supply power to the Barekese Treatment Plant and Achiase Booster station,” the statement said.

According to the statement, engineers of the GWCL and the ECG are working to rectify the challenges as soon as possible.
