Evelyn Badu, Doris Boaduwaa Named In CAF Awards Final List
Ghana’s top players, Evelyn Badu and Doris Boaduwaa have made the final shortlist of Africa’s top women players for the Confederation of Africa Football (CAF) Awards 2022 top prize.
The annual awards will be held on Thursday, 21 July in Rabat, Morocco.
The two influential players received nominations for Player of the Year, Inter Club player of the Year, and Young Player of the Year categories.
Badu and Boaduwaa, who played a vital role in Ghana’s qualification to the 2022 U-20 Women’s World Cup in Costa Rica will battle it out with nine other top players in Africa for the coveted prize.
Whilst the list released by CAF comprises 10 nominees for both Women’s Player of the Year and Women’s Interclub Player of the Year.
The Women’s Young Player of the Year and Women’s Club of the Year has five nominees apiece.
Also, Hasaacas Ladies’ coach, Yussif Basigi who won multiple trophies last season including the WAFU Zone B Women’s Champions League qualification, the second runner-up in CAF Women’s Champions League, Women’s Premier League and Women’s FA Cup in Ghana was nominated in the Coach of the Year category whilst Hasaacas Ladies was nominated for the Club of the Year award.
Former Ghana’s Black Queens and Black Princesses Head Coach would compete against 10 other coaches for the Coach of the Year category after taking into consideration the group phase matches at the ongoing TotalEnergies Women’s Africa Cup of Nations Morocco 2022.
The winners of each category will be decided by a voting panel made up of CAF Technical Committee, media representatives, head coaches, and captains of Member Associations and clubs involved at the group stage of the Interclub competitions for the 2021/22 season.
