Ronaldo Exploring Sporting Lisbon Return

Cristiano Ronaldo has reiterated his desire to leave Manchester United and is exploring the option of returning to Sporting Lisbon, reports The Athletic.

A motivating factor for Ronaldo, the reports states, is moving to a Champions League club so he can cement his spot as the competition's top scorer.

Ronaldo is currently out in front on 140 goals, which is 15 more than Lionel Messi. He is three goals behind Messi on group-stage goals, which the report adds, is another motivating factor.

Ronaldo's agent, Jorge Mendes, has held talks with Sporting as he seeks to find exit routes from Old Trafford, The Athletic say.
