3 RECT Academy Learners Among Top 50 In Citi FM’s Literacy Challenge

Three distinguished pupils of RECT Academy were selected among the top 50 students of Citi FM’s “The Literacy Challenge,” which took place last Saturday, August 13, 2022, at Accra.

The exercise which entered the second stage was a written General Knowledge Aptitude Test for 50 participants, whose essays were vetted and selected.

Organizers of the programme revealed that top 10 participants from the aptitude test will advance to the final stage of the contest to be held on September 10th next month at the Alisa Hotel in Accra.

The three contingents from RECT Academy; Ewurafua Ampong, Nana Kweku Boahen and Juanita Esi Ativi, were selected from over 5000 students who submitted their essays on the topic, “You have been appointed as an advisor to the Minister of Communications and Digitalization. In not less than 600 words, you are required to write to the Minister, advising on how Ghana can deploy technology for poverty reduction and national development.”

All the 50 participants who took part in the exercise were awarded certificates and medals for their distinguished work.

Speaking at the event, the Head of Programmes at Citi FM/TV, Ms Appiakor Sarah said the final top 10 contestants will compete in a classic quiz competition for the grand prize of GH¢10,000.

Ms. Appiakor said “The Literacy Challenge” is a nationwide campaign that promotes literacy in Ghana. It is powered by 97.3 Citi FM, with support from Citi TV.

The Directors, management and staff of RECT Academy congratulate the three students for their exploit and wished them good luck to advance to the final stage of the competition.
