It Will Be a 'Great Challenge' For Asamoah Gyan To Play At Qatar 2022 World Cup But... - Samuel Eto'o

Qatar Legacy Ambassador, Samuel Eto’o Fils, has shared his opinion on Ghana's top striker and goal scorer, Asamoah Gyan to play again for the Black Stars during the 2022 World Cup at Qatar.

The former Udinese, Rennes and Sunderland forward says he is embarking on the fitness programme with the hope of appearing at what would be his fourth World Cup finals despite he not being in active football for years.

The Ghanaian soccer legend is putting himself in best shape in hope that he will make the list to the Qatar.

"Talent wise, everything is there already, so I just have to prepare physically," he told the BBC World Service.

"The World Cup is every footballer's dream. I think I've got a bit of energy left in me to prove myself once again.

"I've been out for almost two years now due to injuries but I just need to get my body back in shape. It's an eight-week programme and according to my physical instructor I'm improving faster than he thought.

"Then I must see how my body reacts to playing competitive football."

"I haven't announced my retirement," he said.

During an interview with host Nana Yaw Kesseh on "Kokrokoo" show on Peace FM after arriving in Ghana on Thursday, August 18, the Africa's four-time Player of the Year, Samuel Eto'o was asked about his take on Gyan's disclosure to be back to the national team, the Black Stars.

In response, Eto'o Fils stated it will be a great challenge to Asamoah Gyan to return to the World Cup.

"Well, this is a great challenge. He's played and he is given great joy to Africans when they were watching him. What I will say is the final decision will be that of the coach. He will decide whether he will take him on board or not," he said.
