Akufo-Addo’s Booing: Everyone Knows 'KT's Head Is Like A Coconut' – NDC's Brogya Descends Fires Back

Aspiring National Youth Organiser of the laregest opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), Brogya Genfi, has not taken kindly to some comments made by the Member of Parliament (MP) for Adansi Asokwa, Kobina Tahir (K.T) Hammond over the much-talked-about booing of President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo at the recently held Global Citizen Festival at the Black Star Square.

In an interview with Journalists shared by Accra-based Joy FM, the legislator argued that it was not right for the youth to disrespect the President and by extension elders in the society, especially for political reasons.

“We don’t live in a country and do that. Let’s be humble. Whatever we do, the president is the Executive Head of this country. When he came, he didn’t say anything. It wasn’t even a political platform.

The outspoken MP further stated that since it is "elders" who are consulted for counsel in challenging times and not the youth, the latter needs to stay humble.

"He (Akufo-Addo) only said the event has brought the attention of the world to Ghana and the youth started booing at him. We will always tell the youth to be humble. When a matter comes up, we say we are going to consult elders. We don’t say we are coming to consult the youth whose heads are like coconut

“We consult the elderly on matters because they are wise. But because of politics, we do anything with the elderly. Let it even be a political platform that you can heckle but it wasn’t even a political rally. The youth should respect the elderly. We shouldn’t let it be that because of politics we can insult everyone. It’s not possible for the youth to be left to manage the affairs of the country.

“They won’t know how to do it in the first place. You don’t understand. You are galivanting about in this town with your beard, nothing is in your heads,” Mr KT Hammond is reported to have said.

But the NDC’s youth leader, Brogya Genfi in a Facebook post believed the NPP lawmaker's comment was more of an “insult” than a piece of advice.

“The dishonourable Member of Parliament for Adansi Asokwa, K. T. Hammond has a problem with himself.

“He has developed a problem with his self-esteem since Akufo-Addo treated him as surplus to the requirement to serve in government. It is so serious an issue for him, such that, even in the dying moments of the Akufo-Addo government, K. T. the drill ship dealer wants to insult the youth of Ghana to please Akufo-Addo for a position.

“Nobody needs a careful study to see whether or not KT's head is like coconut,”  Mr Genfi who has described himself as a ‘youth Leadership of Courage’ said in his post.
