The National Chairman of the Progressive People's Party (PPP), Nana Ofori Owusu, has assented to calls that President of the Republic, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo must resign.

The calls were made during the 'Kume Preko reloaded' protest held in Accra on Saturday, November 5, 2022.

Scores of demonstrators clad in red attire thronged the streets of the capital city to register their displeasure with President Nana Addo and his administration.

Wielding placards with various inscriptions to convey their message to the President, some of the protesters made it vivid that they no longer want the President at the Jubilee House.

They showed placards that said the President should resign while they whined about the economic hardships.

On Peace FM's "Kokrokoo" morning show, Nana Ofori Owusu was asked his position on the request for the President to step down.

Delivering his response, he stated that it is obvious Ghanaians are not happy with the way the President is administering the affairs of the nation and particularly with his refusal to dismiss Finance Minister, Ken Ofori-Atta who many people including Members of Parliament of his (President) political party want out of office.

He argued that, "we believe that when they change him (Ken Ofori-Atta) and introduce a new team [the party is full of many bright people], the NPP prides itself that they have the men, so, if they have the men, let those men come and replace this man. Let the men come and replace this man and find ways to move Ghana forward because we are not happy that we are going through what we are going through as a nation".

"We are not happy as a people and nobody is praying for Ghana to go through difficulties that affect us everyday. We want a change while they are in power. They must give us hope and that hope, by the 80 plus MPs, is to sack the Finance Minister," he asserted.

To him, "the Finance Minister should be sacked" but if the President is not ready to remove the Finance Minister, then both President Nana Addo and Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia "should resign. If the President is not willing to take that decision, then he should resign".
