Cherryfield Montessori Holds 7th Graduation

Cherryfield Montessori International, a private school, has held their 7th Graduation, Speech and Prize Day.

This year’s event was on the theme: “The role of parents in the career development and decision making of their wards,” and was graced by parents, teachers, pupils and past pupils.

The school situated at Pokuase in the Greater Accra Region saw the students clad in their school uniforms and the graduates in their garments gathered at the forecourt of the school as they sang their anthem and displayed their various talents to the delight of the audience.

Some of the students engaged in pageantry, drama and recital of poems as well as dancing to commemorate the day.

Some outstanding students were rewarded during the ceremony.

Headmistress of the school, Madam Magdalene Dzifa Adzanu, delivering a keynote address, whiles making a passionate appeal to the government to alleviate the economic hardships, also had words of advice for parents and students alike.

"I hereby make a passionate appeal to the government to, as a matter of priority, put in place measures in order to mitigate the current economic hardship in the country to enable parents assume their full responsibility towards their children's education," she said.

According to Madam Dzifah, the tendency for some parents to focus on their work in an effort to make ends meet to the neglect of their wards due to the economic difficulties was high and this could impact their wards negatively.

"....parents should make and spend quality time with your wards despite your tight schedules engendered by the current economic pressure in our country," the Headmistress said.

To the graduates, she said, "although the future is unknown, we are confident that we have adequately prepared you to face the next challenge in your academic pursuit. It is our fervent hope that the current crop of candidates will come out with flying colors as their predecessors".
