All eyes have gone on stalk as the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Raycof Group of Companies and Queen Elizabeth Hotel, Mr. Ramus Kwofie and wife donate a fully furnished Accident and Emergency Block to the Sefwi Wiawso Municipal Government Hospital, at an estimated cost of One Million, Four Hundred Thousand Ghana Cedis (GHS1,400,000.00).

At a ceremony in the early hours of Thursday, November 17, 2022, Kyidomhene of the Sefwi Wiawso Traditional Council, Nana Elluo Panin III chaired the inauguration of the facility, in the company of the Medical Superintendent of the hospital, Dr. Jonathan Mensah, the Western North Regional Health Director, Dr. Marion Okoh Owusu, and Municipal Chief Executive of Sefwi Wiawso Municipality, Hon. Louis Owusu-Agyepong.

The Medical Superintendent at the hospital, Dr. Mensah, narrated the pressing need for such a facility, citing that its absence over the years has had detrimental effects on healthcare delivery especially for victims of accidents and other critical cases. He further commended Mr. and Mrs. Kwofie for such an unprecedented gesture done.

Addressing the public, the Regional Health Director, Dr. Marion Okoh Owusu expressed her profound gratitude to Mr. Kwofie and wife, Elizabeth, indicating her excitement to have witnessed the kind donation during her tenure. “After surveying the facility, the Management and Regional Health Service Team consider the block a befitting monument that complements the hospital,” she said. Dr. Marion took the opportunity to encourage other individuals, Non-Governmental Organizations and corporate bodies to emulate the couple’s gesture by devoting their time, expertise, and resources to support and advance health delivery services in the municipality.

In an interview with media correspondents, Mr. Kwofie and wife revealed their motivation for putting together an Accident and Emergency center was triggered when they visited the hospital a year ago and saw people in critical conditions lying on the floor, verandas, and benches. The sight of that event, he said, was a defining moment for which they felt the need to make this provision. Mr. Kwofie also made a call to the general public to, within their capacities, see life beyond themselves and contribute to their societies and help make life better for others.

Speaking on behalf of the Western North Regional Minister (Hon. Richard Ebbah Obeng), the Municipal Chief Executive of the Sefwi Wiawso Municipality, Hon. Louis Owusu-Agyepong extended the Minister’s delight and sincerest gratitude to the couple. Having commissioned the hospital for operations approximately 30 years ago, the MCE indicated, the facility unofficially serves as ‘Regional Hospital’, despite there hadn’t been a major renovation.

Having commended the staff and management of the Sefwi Wiawso Government Hospital, Hon. Louis Owusu-Agyepong, further charged the Medical Superintendent of the facility to, together with his management, efficiently utilize the newly commissioned Accident and Emergency Unit, while knocking on doors of others who are in the position to offer assistance to the facility.

Commending the couple for their generosity and kindness, the Chairman of the inaugural ceremony, Nana Elluo Panin III also pledged the support of the Sefwi Wiawso Traditional Council to the expansion and advancement of the Government Hospital, as it has done in times past.

Mr. Kwofie and wife, Elizabeth also indicated their acknowledgement of the presence of all the dignitaries and expressed his gratitude to Dr. Jonathan Mensah and the Management for their cooperation in ensuring the fruition on the project.

Granting an interview to the media, Hon. Owusu-Agyepong made a call to the public that societal development should not only be initiated by the central government, but also from MMDAs and private sectors–individuals and NGOs.
