Widows And Aged Receives Pieces Of Clothes And Free Health Care Support From Adinkra Diaspora Women Organisation (NGO)

Adinkra Diaspora Women , a Non Governmental Organization which has its headquarters in Denmark and comprises of Ghanaian women both home and diaspora has extended it support to widows , the aged and the vulnerable in Adukrom- Akuapem in the Okere Constituency of the Eastern region through free health screening and donation of other necessities.

The screening exercise was meant to diagnose individual status regarding hepatitis B, high blood pressure and diabetes after which the beneficiaries received some first aid medications and the needed recommendations or advise from dietician and the doctors.

Widows,aged women and other benenificiaries present were given pieces of clothes, bags of rice , sardines and tomoto puree respectively.

Ms. Sheila Ohene a member of the organisation from Denmark said "Adinkra was founded in Denmark three years ago and this is the third anniversary , so our vision in Ghana here is to help the widows, the aged , single mothers and the girl child since they are the most vulnerable in our society".

She therefore called on all Ghanaian women both home and abroad to join the group to broaden it support to many part of the country.

On the other hand , the organisation's secretary Mrs. Eugenia Malan explained that the NGO having gone to Ashanti region and Central region to assist women and the aged in the past years , it finally decided to come to Adukrom-Akuapem since this is where the founder of the group Ivy Asare (Aka Akosua Papabi Gold) hails from.

Dr. Nancy A. Gyamerah, a doctor in Koforidua Central Hospital urged churches to often offer their church platform to health personnels to educate the Congregants since the over emphasize of their spiritual lives makes them ignorant to pursue regular health care.

She entreated the beneficiaries to regularly visit the hospital to be diagnosed on hepatitis B, high blood pressure and diabetes since they are considered as silence killer diseases.

The beneficiaries were enthused about the kindest gesture of Adinkra Diaspora Women NGO , and touted the exercise as important to raise awareness about their health conditions.
