Be Discipline And Demonstrate Competence In Skill Development Chancellor Of PUG Tells Graduands

The Chancellor of Presbyterian University Ghana (PUG) , Rt. Rev. Prof. Joseph Obiri Yeboah Mante has admonished Graduands of the University to exhibit high level of discipline and to demonstrate competency in skill development as they bow out of education to pursue their careers in all spears of life.

Speaking in an interview after the induction of some 539 Graduands into the PUG Alumni Association during the 16th Congregation and Graduation Ceremony at Kwahu Abetifi, the Chancellor/Moderator said the motto of the University is " *Discipline in Leadership"* hence the aim is to train graduates to become well discipline and are capable to demonstrate competency in the head, heart and the hand after their education.

The Chancellor said "the reality is that let the certificate you have acquired show in the way you work, your character, in your hard work , in your discipline because that is the reality, "agro 3ne fam" that is "playing is on the ground". As Graduates remember that learning is a process so continue to learn , don't stop learning , continue to develop the mind, maintain good relationships and be ambassadors of the Presbyterian University Ghana".

"I have unwavering confidence that the Graduands of today will press fort turning the world and the living to a thirsty land, everybody is going around saying Ghana is hard and the only thing I can hear is that people cannot have jobs, I still do not understand what Universities are for, if people graduate from University and therefore have to look for job , I want to say again that every University's work itself must teach students hard to be innovative to command jobs to come into existence otherwise we've not really educated ourselves well" he addressed the Graduands.

He explained further that supervising his first graduation ceremony since he became the Chancellor of the University will encourage and motivate the Graduands to work hard to the benefit of the country.

Finally, he urged all University in the country to train graduates who will not wander in search of jobs but graduates who will have the competence to create jobs by themselves.

Meanwhile, the President of Presbyterian University Ghana (PUG) , Prof. Ebenezer Oduro Owusu also highlighted that one of the most pressing need of the country is individuals who are discipline in character to steer the affairs of the country in order to change the fortunes of the country therefore the Presbyterian University Ghana (PUG) is working hard to champion that course to become a reality.

He said "as part of effort to succeed in championing the course of discipline, the University has launched an integrity campaign where it will get to a time students will write exams in the University without any supervision but yet they will do what is right".

The University has made a significant effort in ensuring the availability of food along the value chain due to the current world economic order.

"The current world economic order has culminated in the need to take food security issues serious , we , at the Presbyterian University, Ghana , have initiated discussions with the University of Qatar and Avnon Academy, Israel to establish a Food Security unit with the primary focus of ensuring the availability of food along the value chain, for the Ghanaian economy at affordable prices whiles protecting farming interests" Prof. Ebenezer Oduro Owusu said in a speech he delivered.

He concluded by saying that countries which have develop and progress embarked on the campaign of discipline and truthfulness.

Presbyterian University Ghana (PUG) established in 2003 and attained Presidential status on 3rd March , 2022 which was granted to the University by the President of the Republic of Ghana in a short ceremony at the Jubilee House , Accra ,on 30th August , 2022.

This followed the induction of the Rt. Rev. Prof. Joseph Obiri Yeboah Mante , Moderator of the General Assembly of the Presbyterian Church of Ghana as the First Chancellor of the Presbyterian University, Ghana at the Unveiling of the Monument Ceremony on 12th September , 2022.

Relocation of the Computer Engineering programme to the Obo site of the University in April, 2022. The curricula for BSc Automobile Engineering , Materials Engineering , Electrical and Electronic Engineering programmes are being drafted for accreditation to augment the BSc Engineering programme.

Following the new Charter status , the University has also begun new programmes such as PhD in Leadership and Management, MSc in Nursing , BSc in Communication Studies , MBA in Project Development and MSc in Information Communication Technology, Already , PhD in Environment and Development and MBA in Human Resource Development and Management have been submitted for accreditation.
