Nana Akomea has condemned the Military over their sanctioned operation at Ashaiman in response to the death of Imoro Sherrif, a young soldier.

The trooper met his untimely demise after some attackers stabbed him with a knife and stole his iPhone.

Following news of the death of the soldier, military officers invaded Ashaiman and beat up the residents mercilessly.

The soldiers subjected every resident they met in the community to severe punishment as they went on a manhunt for the perpetrators.

This action by the soldiers, according to a statement from the Military High Command, was sanctioned by the leadership.

The Chief Executive Officer of the State Transport Corporation (STC), Nana Akomea, speaking on Peace FM's 'Kokrokoo' morning show, questioned the logic and basis for the soldiers raiding the Ashaiman community.

"These are Ghanaians. Today, it is Ashaiman; it could be you, Kwami or me tomorrow . . . this is a mob action and this action should not be coming from the Ghana Military, because when you check our institutions we give respect to, the Military is a part. We all respect them. I don't see any justification for how the soldiers treated the Ashaiman people," he bemoaned.

To him, even if the residents knew the deceased soldier, it still didn't justify the military operation on them.

"Even if the people knew the young guy was a soldier, does it mean you should go and torment a whole community?", he asked.

Nana Akomea admonished the Military High Command to address this behavior of their officers saying "this is not good. It's time they stopped and find better ways of dealing with situations. It is sad that the person who lost his life is a soldier but mob action should not be the response of a fine institution like the Ghana Army".
