Dr. Benjaimin Otchere-Ankrah has kicked against the Special Prosecutor's attempt to probe former President John Dramani Mahama over allegations of bribe during the just-ended NDC primaries.

The Office of the Special Prosecutor has announced it is going to investigate reports that the former President gave money to facilitate the transportation of delegates to the various voting centers to cast their votes.

A statement issued by Mr. Mahama’s campaign team confirmed that they provided the delegates with money for transportation and emphasized it was his way of supporting the party.

But the Special Prosecutor considers this gesture to have been done to influence votes in favour of Mr. Mahama against his opponents.

Commenting on the development, Dr. Benjamin Otchere-Ankrah says the probe will result in absolutely nothing.

He wondered what wrong has the former President done if he is giving money to help in transporting delegates to polling stations and how that leads to indictment.

"Does he has evidence that President Mahama gave the money? It could even be that someone who loves Mr. Mahama gave the money to support him. He (Special Prosecutor) should do what is necessary," he emphasized while making his submissions on Peace FM's 'Kokrokoo' morning show.

The Governance lecturer at the Central University further advised the Special Prosecutor to concentrate on matters that are of essence to the nation, not something supposedly as trivial as Mr. Mahama or his team giving a delegate money to help him or her make his way to a voting ground.

"He should focus on things that will help the country and not these things that he is following. Can you tell that nobody will give any person anything in the impending elections of the NPP? It will surely happen; it's not going to end," he said, stressing the probe "will result in nothing".
