More Than 100,000 People In Ahafo To Benefits Ghc50 Million Water Supply Project In Goaso

The Government of Ghana through Community Water and Sanitation Agency has handed over site for work to commence on a Ghc50 million water supply project for Goaso, Ahafo Regional Capital.

The project which is to end the current water crises following the creation of new region and Goaso been it's Capital with fast growing populations has been awarded to two contractors, Pumptech limited and Beda Engineers Construction Limited is expected to be completed in two years period.

Currently Goaso has only 690 household water supply, 14 functional standpipes and the rest depends on either private water supply or water well but with new project every household will get water.

The project has 7 new boreholes, two 200m³ water storage tanks, 20 standpipes, two fire hydrants, Office complex, construction of solar farm and has 20 design.

The Chief Executive Officer of Community Water and Sanitation Agency (CWSA) said the creation of Ahafo region and the growing populations of it's Capital Goaso, prompted government to initiate the project benefits at least over 100,000 population.

The Ahafo Regional Minister, Hon George Boakye said the current Goaso water project was constructed in 2002 and it's now woefully adequate for residents in Goaso.

Hon. Boakye has therefore commended President Nana Akufo Addo for the project and assured him of effective monitoring of the contractors on site to deliver the accurate designs and quality of work.

Nana Kwasi Bosompra I, Omanhene of Goaso Traditional Council urges the contractors to engage the services of local youth in executing the project.
