Bawumia Has What It Takes To Become President - Atik Mohammed

Atik Mohammed has spoken highly of Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia on his political journey to becoming President of Ghana.

Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia is vying for the flagbearer of the ruling New Patriotic Party with nine other candidates competing for the same position.

The New Patriotic Party (NPP) will hold its main congress in November this year following their Special Delegates Congress in August to select five out of the ten candidates.

With regard to the candidacy of Dr. Bawumia, there is a school of thought that he being a Muslim will have a negative impact on the NPP's chance of winning the 2024 elections.

In view of this, some people are calling for a non-Muslim to lead the party but Atik Mohammed has dissented to these assertions.

Contributing to Peace FM's 'Kokrokoo' morning show, Atik stated that a person's ability to lead shouldn't be based on whether he or she is a Muslim or Christian or from some peculiar tribe.

He, therefore, warned against the religious and tribal politics against the Vice President stressing, "Dr. Bawumia has what it takes to become President" and further cautioned his critics saying "you don't need some of these incidentals to mar the beauty of his campaign".

"He is a Muslim and so what?", he fumed.
