NPP Supporters "Chase" Navrongo MCE Over "Bawumia" Farm Inputs

Some supporters of the New Patriotic Party have expressed concerns over alleged attempts by the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) of Kasena-Nankana, Joseph Adongo, to misappropriate essential farm inputs meant for local farmers.

The NPP supporters claim that Mr. Adongo is diverting the inputs, allegedly provided by Vice-President Mahamudu Bawumia, for his personal campaign in the upcoming NPP parliamentary primaries.

The situation has sparked criticism from party supporters, with some demanding the resignation of the MCE over the issue. The supporters assert that the MCE is distributing only weedicides to farmers while hoarding other farm inputs for his political campaign.

They are also concerned about the MCE's failure to acknowledge the Vice-President as the source of the support initiative, raising suspicions about his motives and intentions. Some NPP members worry that the MCE's actions may adversely affect the Vice-President's campaign.

Denial

However, speaking to the media, the MCE denied the claims, stating that he only received weedicides from the Upper East Regional Coordinating Council (RCC) and did not receive any other inputs. He also denied having any knowledge that the inputs came from the Vice-President, as the RCC did not communicate such information to him.

He challenged those making the allegations to disclose where he is supposedly hoarding the other inputs. Furthermore, Mr. Adongo denied that the inputs were intended solely for NPP members, claiming that the weedicides were distributed to Assembly Members in the area. He questioned why inputs meant for NPP members would be given to Assembly Members, some of whom belong to the opposition National Democratic Congress.

Meanwhile, the NPP supporters are questioning the MCE's responses. They claim to have knowledge of supporters in adjoining districts who received other farm inputs, such as fertilisers and wellington boots. They question how their counterparts in the region received different inputs if the MCE's claim of only receiving weedicides is true.

The aggrieved supporters have threatened to demonstrate against the MCE if their concerns are not addressed, causing internal strife within the NPP in the area.
