NPP Special Delegates Congress: Composition of Delegates Reveals 701 Out Of 961 Represented Grassroots

The breakdown of the composition of delegates who voted in Saturday's Special Delegates Conference of the NPP has revealed that the overwhelming majority of the delegates represented the grassroots of the party.

The grassroots, made up of polling station executives and electoral area coordinators, are those who vote to elect constituency and Regional executives as well as parliamentary candidates and national executives of the party.

Indeed, the composition of Saturday's Special Delegates electoral college had majority representation from constituency executives, MPs, Regional and national executives.

Out of the 961 Special Conference delegates, there were 275 Constituency Chairmen, 272 Regional executives, 137 MPs and 17 National Executives; totalling 701 delegates.

All of them were voted for by the grassroots and, as delegates, they represent the grassroots who elected them.

The above number of delegates normally consult and take instructions from their respective voting blocs which are the grassroots before determining the direction of their votes.

The remaining 260 delegates were representatives of former Ministers, diaspora branches of the party, former national executives and the party's Council of Elders.
