Presbyterian University Elects Its First Vice Chancellor 

The Presbyterian University, Ghana (PUG) Council, has inducted into office the first Vice Chancellor of the University in the person of Prof. John Ofosu-Anim after it was honoured a Chartered status and became a fully fledged University in August 30, 2022.

Prof. John Ofosu-Anim is now the first Vice Chancellor of the University following his appointment which took effect from 1st August, 2023.

Before assuming his role as Vice Chancellor, he served briefly as Dean of the School of Architecture and Science at Central University and as Pro Vice-Chancellor.

He also held key positions at the University of Ghana including Dean of the School of Agriculture.

He further acted as Provost of the College of Basic and Applied Science on a number of occasions, Head of the Department of Crop Science and Vice Dean of the School of Agriculture.

His extensive administrative contributions encompassed numerous Committees and Boards such as the Business and Executive Committee, Academic Board and Ghana University Staff Superannuation Scheme Management Board among others.

He also served as UTAG Secretary and President at the University of Ghana making him very skillful in dealing with management and staff negotiations.

As part of his impactful initiatives, Prof. Ofosu-Anim co-authored Ghana Education Service (GES) approved textbooks for the teaching of Agriculture Science in Junior Secondary Schools.

Addressing the clergy, the University's Council and some dignitaries during an induction ceremony at Ramseyer Congregation-Presbyterian Church of Ghana in Kwahu- Abetifi to officially hand over Staff of Office to the new Vice Chancellor of the University, Rt. Rev. Prof. Joseph Obiri Yeboah Mante indicated that the decision of the church and the University Council to make Prof. Ofosu-Anim the Vice Chancellor is because the Church wants people like him with great expertise in academia to better the University.
