Setup Cocoa Processing Factory in Sefwi Wiawso Before Your Term of Office – Sefwi Wiawso Omanhene Appeals Akufo-Addo

Katakyie Kwasi Bumangama ll, Paramount Chief of the Sefwi Wiawso Traditional Area has made a passionate appeal to President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo to establish a Cocoa Processing factory in the Western North Regional Capital, Sefwi Wiawso as part of the One-District, One-Factory initiative.

Katakyie Kwasi Bumangama ll made this appeal during his speech delivered at the MTN Elluo 2023.

Addressing the mammoth gathering to climax the month long Eluo Festival, the overlord of Sefwi Wiawso traditional Area who is also a member of the Council of State opined that the people in the Western North Region irrespective of their political affiliation and political background will forever be greatful to H.E Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo Addo for carving the Western North Region.

Speaking under the Theme for the Eluo Festival Celebration, "Ensuring Pro-Active Socio-Economic Development in Sefwi Wiawso Traditional Area, The Role of Traditional Leaders.”

In his address, Katakyie Kwasi Bumagama II, a member of the Western North Regional House of Chiefs and Council of State, commended President Akufo-Addo for creating the Western North Region adding that the numerous development spreading across the length and breadth of the region can attest to it how the creation of the region has benefited the people.

He highlighted that the inception of the new region had initiated numerous extensive projects, some of which have been finished while others are currently under construction.

Katakyie Kwasi Bumagama II who is also a Board Member of the Forestry Commission also emphasized the historical significance of the request, explaining that the desire for a Cocoa Processing factory in the region is long over due.

The overlord of Sefwi Wiawso Traditional Area also highlighted that the idea of a Cocoa Processing company in the western North Regional Capital had received support from influential leaders in the country, including Asantehene Otumfour Osei Tutu II.

"I am optimistic that the President’s efforts, even as his term in office draws to a close next year, could set the stage for future administrations to continue the pursuit of this vision," he stated.

Katakyie Kwasi Bumagama II underscored the potential benefits of such an establishment, noting that it would not only create employment opportunities but also help deter youth involvement in illegal activities.

“We, the Chiefs and people of Sefwi Wiawso Traditional Area, are still looking forward to this dream becoming a reality,” Katakyie Kwasi Bumagama II stated.

Touching on Sefwi Benchemaa-Adjoafua road, which has been suspended for some months now due to financial difficulties, Katakyie Kwasi Bumangama ll appealed to President Akufo-Addo to complete the small portion left before his term of office ends.

We are greatful to your administration for the numerous development in this area, even Benchema- Adjoafua road has seen many sod cutting under different administration but could not see the light till you assumed office in 2017, Okatakyie told President Akufo Addo.

H.E the President, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo on his part, pledged that further infrastructure advancements would be delivered before the end of his tenure of office.

He also expressed his satisfaction about the commendation by Katakyie Kwasi Bumangama ll of his governments unprecedented achievement in the region and the country as a whole and therefore cited the Sefwi Wiawso town roads will be completed before the end of this year.

President Akufo-Addo who commended Katakyie Kwasi Bumangama ll efforts in changing the face of the Western North Regional Capital by refurbishing Okogyeabour's palace to it's modern state noted that his government will continue to work to develop all parts of the country without any form of discrimination.

The event was graced by the presence of a high profile personalities from government, Mr. Stephen Asamoah Boateng, the Minister for Chieftaincy and Religious Affairs, Western North Regional Minister, Joojo Rocky Ebbah Obeng, Dr. Kwaku Afriyie, Member of Parliament for Sefwi Wiawso Constituency, and Mr. Alex Tetteh, Member of Parliament for Sefwi Akontombra Constituency, MMDCE'S.

Some traditional rulers in attendance at the Elluo festival included Osenkense3 Ogyeahoho) Yaw Gyebi II, the Paramount Chief of Sefwi Anhwiaso Traditional Area, who also serves as the President of the National House of Chiefs, Tetrete Okuamoah Sekyim II, the Paramount Chief of Wassa Amenfi Traditional Area, Paramount Chief of Dormaa Traditional Area and President of the Bono Regional House, Osagyefo Oseadeyo Dr Agyeman Badu II, Okogyeman Kwaku Gyeaprah III, the Paramount Chief of Sefwi Chirano Traditional Area.

Others include Oyeadeyie Basape Kojo Armah III, the Paramount Chief of Sefwi Bekwai Traditional area, Nana Kobina Nketiah, paramount Chief of Essikado, the French Ambassador to Ghana and many others.
