Another Ga Mantse Pops Up

By press time yesterday, another claimant to the Ga Mantse stool, Nii Tackie Oblie II (Nii Ayitey Canada), had resurfaced as the legitimate claimant to the Ga Mantse stool. This brings to three, the number of persons that have made claims to the position in recent times including King Tackie Tawiah III (Dr Jo Blankson) and Boni Nii Tackie Adama Latse II (George Tackie) who was installed over the weekend. Spokesman for Nii Tackie Oblie II, one Nii Osiahene, who spoke to DAILY GUIDE yesterday, said Nii Tackie Oblie was the heir who succeeded the late Ga Mantse, Boni Nii Amugi II and that all other claimants to the title are nothing but imposters. He described the recent installation of a supposed new king (Boni Nii Tackie Adama Latse II) by Gbese Mantse, Nii Ayibonte, the Asere Dzasetse, Nii Amakai II and the various Wulomei (traditional priest) of the Ga state, who presented themselves at the ceremony, as a mere show of force and that Nii Tackie Oblie was the real Ga Mantse. Nii Oseahene said Nii Tackie Oblie was sworn-in some 6 years ago. The situation has sent threatening signals among Accra residents since tension is gradually brewing in the Ga state. Residents have since called on the security agencies to do something before the situation degenerates into chaos.
