Publicly Uploading Pink Sheets Will Reduce Pressure On Our Courts - Fmr. NPP MP Commends EC

Former Member of Parliament (MP) for Manhyia North constituency, Collins Owusu Amankwah has commended the Electoral Commission on their decision to upload the summary of results sheets for public view.

The Electoral Commission (EC) has indicated that, as part of measures to make the 2024 elections transparent and fair, it will upload the results sheets, commonly called "pink sheets", on a dedicated online portal.

Pink sheets are the EC’s official documents used to collate results of elections at polling stations, constituency and Regional levels and also the source documents which the Commission relies on to declare winners in the elections.

“This time around, we plan to display the scanned signed pink sheets on a dedicated portal...We are confident that this arrangement will promote transparency and engender further trust and confidence in our electoral processes...By so doing, we will also promote inclusion and involve the citizens throughout the process”, EC Chairperson, Jean Mensa disclosed yesterday at a stakeholder conference organized by the National Peace Council at Peduase in the Eastern Region.

Speaking on Peace FM's "Kokrokoo" show, Hon. Collins Owusu Amankwah was delighted by the move stating that publicly disclosing the pink sheets will erode all doubts and misconceptions that characterize elections in the country.

He noted it will help to minimize the propaganda spread by political parties, particularly the losers, about the Commission and the electoral system.

Hon. Owusu Amankwah was also very optimistic this decision will offload the courts of election petitions, especially those that have no evidence.

"Pressure on our competent court of jurisdiction will reduce because electoral issues are dealt with in court", he applauded the EC.
