Obaatanpa Barbara Launches GHC100K Welfare Fund For Fanteakwa North NPP Delegates

Barbara Makara-Maccugen popularly known as Obaatanpa Barbara, a leading NPP Parliamentary aspirant for Fanteakwa North Constituency has officially launched a One-Hundred Thousand Ghana Cedis welfare fund to assist both polling station executives and electoral area coordinators in the constituency.

The fund, known as OBAATANPA FUND, aims to improve the living standards of delegates in the Fanteakwa North Constituency.

The launch of the welfare fund was held on Wednesday, January 10, 2024 with a seed capital of Ghc50,000 at Begoro in the Eastern Region, and it attracted a large number of electoral area coordinators and delegates.

The aspirant, Obaatanpa Barbara, at the launch took the opportunity to give an insight on the objectives and the operations of the fund, which has been initiated, and will be managed by a seven-member trustee constituted mainly by delegates.

According to her, the seed capital of 50,000Ghc will receive an additional 50,000Ghc when elected into power, and an annual top-up of 10,000Ghc as long as she continues to be their MP, to support delegates who will be in dire need of assistance.

She indicated that, during her earlier discussions with delegates, she promised to start the Obaatanpa Fund with a seed capital of 20,000Ghc but by the grace of God, she has brought them physical cash of 50,000Ghc to start with.

“Two weeks ago when I visited you, I promised to start the welfare fund with a seed capital of 20,000ghf for you. However, if God open doors to me and I happen to get more than that, I will give it to you, and by God’s grace I got more than what I promised. So, I am giving you a seed capital of 50,000gh, the money is here, I brought it to you in cash”, she said.

Aside from the Obaatanpa Fund, she outlined other policies that will improve the living standards of delegates, including Setting up an office in the Constituency to attend to delegates' needs, Health, Agriculture, Education, Sports and Talent Development, and Transport.

She added there will also be Long Service Awards for members.

“For those who have served the party for many years, it is part of my plans to reward long service in the party. I will introduce long service awards scheme because whatever work you do, you must enjoy the fruits of your labour. If not for your long service and sacrifices for the party we will not be able to get where we are, so those who have service from 10 years and above will be rewarded when you give me the node to become your MP”.

She also advised her supporters not to engage in politics of insult but rather see other camp members as one Big NPP Family and continue to sell her policies to them, adding that, the party need a unifier who can appeal to even NDC members in the general elections, and that person is Obaatanpa Barbara.

“ Let’s see ourselves as a family in the NPP party, if a delegate follows another candidate it doesn’t mean they are our enemies. Rather sell my policies to them, because some may follow other candidates but if they are convinced by my policies, they will vote for me”, she added
