NPP Primaries: Dr Kwaku Afriyie Congratulates Festus Bumangama Agyapong As New Sefwi-Wiawso Candidate

The Member of Parliament for Sefwi-Wiawso, who doubles as the minister of Science, Technology, and Innovation, Dr Kwaku Afriyie, has extended his heartfelt congratulations message to the New Patriotic Party Parliamentary candidate elect for the 2024 elections for Sefwi Wiawso Constituency, Festus Bumangama Agyapong, for his overwhelming victory in the just-ended NPP primaries last Saturday at Sefwi Dwinase.

The message from the incumbent member of Parliament comes shortly after Mr. Festus Bumangama Agyapong was declared the winner of the primaries.

Dr. Kwaku Afriyie, a two-term member of Parliament for Sefwi-Wiawso Constituency, decided not to seek re-election after winning the seat for the first time in 2016 for the New Patriotic Party and to continue to protect the seat in the 2020 election.

In a message contained in a press release, the MP stated that his well-deserved triumph not only belongs to him alone but rather serves as a victory for the entire elephant family, adding that the victory marks the beginning of the journey towards another success on December 7, 2024.

"I am immensely grateful to the numerous party delegates across the constituency for placing their trust and confidence in the Honorable Fetus Bumangama Agyapong to take over from my stewardship. I pledge to uphold this trust with unwavering commitment and support for him to win the seat," the MP stated in a press release.

He, therefore, called on all to uphold and respect the decisions made by the party delegates and also urge all party supporters and sympathizers to rally behind Festus Bumangama Agyapong as the parliamentary candidate and join hands in ensuring victory for the New Patriotic Party come 2024.

Dr. Kwaku Afriyie also extended his best wishes for the future and called on all losing aspirants to unite as a strong team to safeguard the seat and strive for further victories for both the presidential candidate, Dr. Alhaji Mahamudu Bawumia, and the parliamentary candidate, Festus Bumangama Agyapong.

"Together, we can achieve great success, and 'breaking the 8' is possible when we all come on board to fight for our party cause," he added.

Out of the 900 delegates, Festus Bumakama Agyapong, one of the sons of the Paramount chief of Sefwi-Wiawso, polled 592 votes. Dr. Andoh Xavi got 17, Atta Boamah had 65, Golly Antwi Boasiako received 151, and Martin Bonye got 49 votes.
