We Have Linked All Hospitals In Ghana...Patients No Longer Will Carry Folders - Bawumia Reveals

Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia says, under his leadership as Vice President, the health records of patients have been digitally linked across the nation to make medical treatments easily accessible and quicker.

The Vice President, delivering a speech at the UPSA-Ghana on his vision under the theme "Ghana’s Next Chapter: Selfless Leadership and Bold Solutions for the Future", noted that, under his digitalization initiative, all hospitals in Ghana have been networked to facilitate health delivery.

Speaking to the gathering, he said; "To make healthcare easily accessible across the country, we have overseen the connection of health facilities under the Ghana Health Services onto one digital platform. So far, all teaching hospitals, all Regional hospitals and all district hospitals have been connected and can talk to each other. The goal is to network over 90% of all hospitals in Ghana by the end of next year."

He explained;  "So, currently, if you are referred from a hospital like Tamale Teaching Hospital to Korle Bu Teaching Hospital, you do not need to carry a folder. All your records will be seen and monitored by a doctor in Korle Bu when you arrive", adding that "patients will have only one digital folder wherever they go. Your health records can be accessed 24 hours a day from any of the 302 networked hospitals".
