Effutu Voters' Register 'Infested' With Over 20,000 Fraudulent Voters - NDC Parl Candidate Alleges

James Kofi Annan, the NDC Parliamentary Candidate for Effutu, has alleged that the constituency voters register is a fraudulent one, riddled with about 20,000 voters who are not residents within the area.

He further alleges they were recruited by the NPP from constituencies such as Awutu-Senya East, Ewutu Senya West, Agona East, Agona West, Gomoa East, Gomoa Central, Gomoa West, Ekumfi, and even as far as Tema West and East.

This has made it very difficult for the NDC to statistically win the Effutu seat.

According to James Kofi Annan, the NPP engaged in large scale busing of voters in a heavily monetized and sophisticated network scheme aided by the Electoral Commission during the 2020 main registration exercise to corrupt the voter register.

James Kofi Annan was the NDC’s parliamentary candidate for the Effutu constituency for the 2020 general elections.

He has been re-elected as the parliamentary candidate for the NDC in the constituency for the 2024 general elections.

Addressing the media, James Kofi Annan said that since the year 2021, the NDC’s fact-finding missions have uncovered thousands of such imported voters with hard core evidence.

According to him, the strategy of the NPP is that they recruit 200 heavily paid and incentivized coordinators of voter importation from outside of the constituency and task each person to recruit a minimum of 100 voters who are given a lot of money to come and vote in Effutu during the elections.

This alone, according to him, sums up to 20,000 votes. These voters are those the NPP keeps busing into the constituency to vote for them during both the main and district assembly elections to claim victory.

Mr. Kofi Annan further stated that the NPP could not have corrupted the electoral process without the support of the Electoral Commission.

According to him, in the run-up to the 2020 elections, the offices of the Effutu constituency Electoral Commission were raided, and electoral materials and equipment were taken away by the raiders.

He said the NDC suspects this act was carried out by the NPP to further temper with the electoral register, and that is why no arrests have been made by the Ghana Police Service and no official report has been issued by the Electoral Commission.
