Simon Osei-Mensah Threatens to Embark on a Demo Against ECG, GRIDCO Over Power Outages

The Ashanti Regional Minister, Simon Osei-Mensah, has threatened to lead a protest against the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) and Ghana Grid Company (GRIDCo) due to the current intermittent power supply.

"I met them (ECG and GRIDCo) and requested a regional breakdown (indicating power distribution) and for them to inform me if there's a planned maintenance so that the media and the general public can be informed. I have still not received the regional breakdown . . . if they don't give it to me, I will embark on a demonstration," he threatened.

Simon Osei-Mensah contributing to a panel discussion on Peace FM's morning show 'Kokrokoo' told ECG and GRIDCo that "if I don’t get a satisfactory explanation after listening to the Ministry of Energy with their response, I’ll demonstrate against them."

"What's the difficulty? I'm not asking for money or anything; just give a regional breakdown and that has become a challenge. I just want a fair distribution..." he stated.
