Atik Mohammed has lampooned the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) Members of Parliament over their commissioning of the ongoing National Cathedral project.

The Minority yesterday, 6th March, clashed with security personnel when they marched to the Cathedral site while Ghana was celebrating her 67th Independence Day anniversary at Koforidua in the Eastern Region.

As the nation turned its eye to the independence activities displayed at Koforidua during the function which was attended by the President of the Republic, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia and their wives together with some high-profile dignitaries, the NDC Parliamentarians hit the street leading to the National Cathedral demanding permission to commission the site.

Following minutes of conflict with the security personnel, they managed to undertake their mission and commissioned the project in the name of the President.

Addressing the issue on Peace FM's morning show "Kokrokoo", Atik found the Minority's action unnecessary and irrelevant to meeting the pressing needs of Ghanaians.

"This thing they did, to what end?", he questioned.

"It doesn't invite people to account. It shows nothing. It's just for the theatrics and for the cameras which, for me, has a very little effect," he slammed the Minority.
