John Kumah's Poison Story Is The "Greatest Political Conspiracy" Ever - Allotey Jacobs Shocked!

Former NDC Central Regional Chairman, Bernard Allotey Jacobs has waded into the brouhaha concerning the death of Deputy Finance Minister, John Kumah.

News about the John Kumah’s death broke on Thursday, March 8, 2024, sending shocking waves across the nation.

Mr. John Kumah, who doubled as the Member of Parliament for Ejisu, passed away after an illness.

But his death has been associated with food poisoning with broadcaster Blessed Godsbrain Smart, popularly called Captain Smart, and some people claiming the Deputy Minister didn’t die a natural death but was killed by some person(s) within the governing New Patriotic Party.

They cited his rising through the ranks of the party as a reason for his demise.

This compelled the wife of the late Deputy Finance Minister, Apostle Lilian Kumah to break tradition and set the record straight on the cause of her husband's death.

“I know the disease that killed my husband” and “no doctor has told me he was poisoned,” she said in an interview on Asaase radio.

She revealed that her late husband had been battling an illness since August 2023.

“As far as I’m concerned, my husband was sick, and I know the sickness and I won’t lie,” she said.

The widow also called on the Police to deal with those spreading her late husband’s poison news, beginning with the Onua TV’s morning show host, Captain Smart.

“Why is it that someone (referring to Captain Smart) has been this bold to claim that he knows for a fact that a person like John Kumah who has served his country virtually all his life, was poisoned, while he was working for his country and party (New Patriotic Party, NPP), why should we sit down and not bring that person to book.

“If it is true that a person who is not dead but alive claims that he knows how my husband (John Kumah) died and that he was poisoned, and that person is still moving around for the past three weeks, it hurts me, it saddens me and I do not know how best to express my frustrations about these false claims by Captain Smart,” the widow lamented.

She added; “If there are laws in this country concerning such false claims, I think this is the time for the leadership of the land to bring that wicked person (Captain Smart) to book to prove his false claims and to point out the persons who were involved in the poisoning of my late husband.”

Commenting on the issue during Peace FM's "Kokrokoo" morning show, Allotey Jacobs described it as the "greatest political conspiracy" ever in the history of Ghana.

He said this to wit the poison claims are concocted stories by some political opponents for their political expediency.

"This is the greatest conspiracy. From UGCC to CPP, I haven't ever seen this kind of conspiracy before," a shocked Allotey Jacobs told host Kwami Sefa Kayi.
