Kotoko Boss Promises Shake Up In Team

Dr Kofi K. Sarpong, Executive Board Chairman of Kumasi Asante Kotoko has promised to revamp the current playing body and the technical team of the Club for enhanced performance in the coming season. According to Dr Sarpong, they are looking forward to infusing the playing body with top notch materials, whilst some will have to pave way as they seek to build a formidable playing body for the season. Speaking in a post match interview in Accra, Dr Sarpong noted that, the exercise is a normal procedure that characterize the end and the beginning of every soccer season hence the need for a shakeup in the playing body. The Executive Board Chairman indicated that the technical team will also be given an additional strength as part of the shake-up exercise. He revealed that the Club will employ the services of a top local coach to augment the technical team department but stressed that Serbian coach Bogdan Korac will still remain as the head of the technical team. Dr Sarpong said the recruitment of the local coach will also ensure infusing of technology into the Clubs affairs and has nothing to do with an intention to do away with the services of the Serbian coach. He noted that with the shake up, the Club will be in a better position to compete competitively in all events and ensure that they regain their past glory. Kotoko last Wednesday defeated Medeama Sc 2-1 in a play-off at the Ohene Djan sports stadium, Accra to win the second spot of the 2010/11 Premier League. The Kumasi-based Club is scheduled to participate in two international tournaments in Tanzania and Serbia before the start of the next league. The move is to adequately prepare the team for the league as well as give the players the expected exposure for other international assignments.
