John Mensah, Sulley Muntari Make Historic Public Appearance

For the first time in the history of Ghana football, two of the countrys biggest players John Mensah and Sulley Muntari made a public appearance just to interact with fans. Thousands thronged the Accra Mall to watch meet and chat with the players while the Europe-based duo showered gifts on their visitors in the event put together by Weekly Sports newspaper. It was a great moment for the fans of the duo who had admired them from afar to come close to them for photographs as well as shake hands with them. Thousands including women and children thronged the Accra Mall to queue for their turn for autographs, which the players conducted amid cheers. They autographed football boots, T shirts, footballs, Black Stars and Sunderland jerseys of the two and their pictures. The crowd multiplied as the program progressed and the few security men at the session had it tough controlling them. At a point, operators of the shops had to plead with organizers to relocate the crowd to the car parking lot as a result of their large numbers who made it impossible for buyers to shop. The players, in separate interviews revealed to johntherock5.com that they considered it prudent to return the love their fans had shown them over the years by interacting with them, hence the exercise. Lyricists Grace Ashy and Noble Nketsia were also present to lend their support.
