'We Condemn The Practice of Scholarship Bonanza'- Dr. Christopher Ampadu

The Africa Center for the Study of the World Views and Wholistic Development have expressed their disappointment over the recent scholarship bonanza published by the Fourth Estate where some relatives and government officials have been cited.

In a statement signed by the Executive director of the Africa Centre for the study of Worldviews and Wholistic Development of Society describes the activities at the scholarship secretariat as devastating  stating that such actions denotes how broken the nation is.

The statement said, "As a nation working assiduously towards development, it is quite disturbing and very sad for scholarships intended for brilliant but disadvantaged students in the country to be used for people who are so connected and influential."

According to Dr. Christopher Ampadu, the actions demonstrated by the Scholarship secretariat clearly shows the level of wickedness exhibited by some leaders who so privileged to be in place of greater influence.

"This is a clear indication of how broken our nation is and that people have lost all their godly conscience and moral and ethical values, and have been compromised for favouritism and selfish gain."

This press release comes on the back of a recent publication by the Fourth Estate about some children of some top government officials as well as some public officials, who by their influence, allegedly secured various scholarship packages for their people.

This publication invoke lots of conversations and backlashed the government for being a part of the alleged bonanza.

In his response, the registrar of the Scholarship secretariat, Kingsley Agyemang mentioned the need to have a legislation to control the acquisition of scholarships but the Executive Director of the Africa Centre for the study of the worldviews and wholistic development of society, disagrees with Kingsley Agyemang.

Dr. Christopher Ampadu said, we think we don’t need scholarship legislatives to be clear about the eligibility, don’t we have conscience, values, principles to do what is right ever for the needy, vulnerable and the poor?

"It is more disheartening to hear that students allegedly have to pay bribes to scholarship secretariat to receive consent and others to get approval for scholarships."

Dr. Ampadu opined that, the current trajectory the country is headed is not the best thereby calling on all and sundry to put the interest of the country above their parochial interest.

The group condemned the practice of the alleged Scholarship Bonanza calling for a change of mind and heart towards the poor and needy in society.

Scholarship Bonanza

The Africa center for the study of world views and Wholistic development is devastated by the latest publication of scholarship bonanza which named persons closely connected to government officials by The Fourth estate.

As a nation working assiduously towards development, It is quite disturbing and very sad for scholarships intended for brilliant but disadvantaged students in the country to be used for people who are so connected and influential.

We are so discouraged by the response of the registrar of the scholarship secretary that we need legislation to dispel eligibility misconception about people who qualify to access Ghana government scholarship.

This is a clear indication of how broken our nation is and that people have lost all their godly conscience and moral and ethical values, and have been compromised for favoritism and selfish gain.

We think that we don't need scholarship legislatives to be clear about eligibility don't we have conscience, values, principles to do what is right ever for the needy, vulnerable and the poor?

And more especially in the dispensation of the Nations scarce resources for which we are clearly mandated to do?

This clearly shows how wicked some of our leaders who are so privileged to be in place of position and trust to serve us. We really need a real change of hearts and minds and godly leaders who fear God align our nation to prosperity and success.

It is more disheartening to hear that students allegedly have to pay bribes to the scholarship secretariat to receive consent and others to get approval for scholarships.

I was so saddened and wept for my mother Ghana if we have gotten to this stage of GREED where even poor people are no longer pitied with compassion and helped but rather impoverish the more before qualified people get placement jobs, admissions, and access to the very things they are duly qualified for just because of greed, nepotism, and the schism of the powerful and the more connected.

We unreservedly condemn this practice and call for a repentance and a complete shake up and removal of the secretariat.

Such a secretariat needs godly, compassion, and morally upright managers and not people who can be compromised, selfish or greedy.
