The Ghana Private Road and Transport Union (GPRTU) has clarified that their recent meeting with the transport ministry is yet to conclude.

According to the Public Relations Officer for GPRTU, Abass Imoro, they express optimism that the matter will be resolved by next week, providing clarity on the way forward.

The union emphasized that the recent increase in transportation fares is not solely due to the rise in fuel prices but involves other factors as well. They underscored their commitment to following due process rather than arbitrarily imposing fare hikes on commuters.

Additionally, they noted that the ministry is currently assessing their arguments for the fare increment before making any further decisions.

In light of the proposed 20% fare increase by the Concerned Drivers' Association and True Drivers' Union, the union plans to engage with the leaders of these associations to address the issue constructively.

They urge Ghanaians to exercise patience as they work to resolve these concerns promptly.
