Police Suspect Foul Play In Pastors Death

THE SOFOLINE Police in Kumasi, which is investigating the circumstance surrounding the mysterious death of Pastor Kwame Anim, president and general overseer of Pentecostal Fire Ministry, have said they suspect foul play in the pastors death. According to the police, there could be more to the self-killing story involving the founder of the burgeoning charismatic church at Denkyemuoso in the Kwadaso District of the Ashanti region. Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Dan Amoako at the Sofoline Police Station told Daily Guide in a telephone interview that his outfit was doing everything possible to unravel the bizarre circumstance under which the pastor died. For now, he said, the police have begun intensive probing into the case to confirm their suspicion. As at the time of filing this report, no arrest had been made but ASP Amoako said any person who would be found culpable would be made to face the law. Meanwhile, accusing fingers have pointed at the wife of the late pastor, 41-year-old Gladys Anim who was said to be assisting the police in their investigations. According to snippets of information picked from the area, Mrs. Anim picked quarrels with her husband almost every night, a situation which most often compelled the deceased pastor to leave his bedroom. When ASP Amoako was asked to comment on the allegation, he declined, giving the assurance that the media would definitely be informed about the facts the security agents would gather from their investigations. The 46-year-old pastor, who was a native of Apirede in the Eastern Region, was said to have committed the abominable act in one of the uncompleted rooms in his house at 4.00am on Tuesday, a few hours after retiring to bed. The Pentecostal Fire Ministry head pastor allegedly took his life without his family, particularly his wife, Mrs. Gladys Anim who shared the same room with him, picking signals of his intention. News about the sudden and unnatural death of Rev. Anim, who was said to have led the church for the past five years, sent shockwaves in the area, with residents wondering what could have made him hang himself. Rev. Kwame Anim, the eldest of seven children, left behind a wife and four children, namely Emmanuel Anim Sefah, 15, Bright Anim, 13, Stephen Anim, 10 and Mummy, 7.
