NACOB Boss Should Be Sacked Youth Organiser

NACOB Boss Acted IrresponsiblyHe Should Be Sacked Kabilla The National Youth Organiser of the Convention Peoples Party (CPP), James Kwabena Bomfeh, popularly known as Kabilla has called on President John Mills to sack the Executive Secretary of the Narcotics Control Board for comments he describes as irresponsible. Mr. Akrasi Sarpong has warned that there will be no room for politicians who intend to use proceeds from the illicit drug trade to support political campaigns. However, in an interview on Xfms The Big Bite morning show, Mr. Bomfeh said that the NACOB boss comments are highly unprofessional and an easy way of shirking responsibility, explaining that it has only given leads to those involved in the illegal trade to get away with it. His job is to follow people to ascertain whether or not they are indeed involved in the drug trade and if possible apprehend them and get them to go through the prescribed prosecutorial exercise. Instead of doing that, what this man is doing is engaging in an overt operation or coming into the public on an issue that happens under cover. Who will come and sit there and say I sell cocaine or I sell wee because it is an undercover exercise. To deal with it, you need to go undercover. Citing an example where the FBI swooped in on the CIA for dealing in drug trade, Mr. Bomfeh said it was quite unacceptable for anybody to reduce the drug menace to party related activities since other agencies benefit from activities of drug trade. Thrashing the motive for Mr. Akrasis comments, Mr. Bomfeh said the NACOB bosss comments was vague and has only succeeded in deepening the already existing problem adding every politician now becomes susceptible to that allegation. Mr. Bomfeh said though the security agencies needed to be resourced to check the drug menace, he was surprised Mr. Akrasi made no complaint when the budget support of NACOB was cut in the 2009/2010 national budget adding that there was the need for coordination between the security agencies if the drug menace is to be curbed. Mr. Bomfeh opined that making NACOB autonomous to enable them generate their own funds to support their activities was not the way to go as that gives the recipe for them to engage in illicit drug trade to fund their huge financial implications suggesting however that a re-aligning of NACOB under the National Security could be suggested.
