Gov't Wants GH1,463,123,559.00 As Supplementary Budget

The Minister for Finance and Economic Planning, Dr. Kwabena Duffour has asked Parliament to approve an amount of GH1,463,123,559.00 as supplementary budget for the government for 2011. Dr Kwabena Duffour was in parliament on Thursday July 14 to present the Mid-Year Review of the 2011 Budget Statement and Economic Policy as well as Supplementary Estimates of the Government of Ghana for the 2011 Financial Year. This follows developments since the last quarter of 2010 in the economy, which had resulted in some changes in the assumptions underlying the 2011 Budget and Economic Policy presented in parliament in November 2010. Some of the developments include the passage of the petroleum Revenue Management Act and the availability of additional resources. This has necessitated the presentation of the supplementary estimates, to seek approval for the utilization of the additional resources.
