State To Set Date To Present Honours To National Teams

A statement from the Presidency last week announced governments decision to honour both the senior national team, the Black Stars and the U-20 side, the Black Satelites for making Ghana proud in their respective World Cups. Government is in the process of setting an appropriate date to do the official presentation, Director of Communications at the Presidency Koku Anyidoho exclusively told GHANAsoccernet.com. Government as a matter of policy from time and memorial has honoured any individual or group who excel under Ghanas name in any sporting event. Both teams excelled and brought pride and honour to our dear nation and therefore deserve every bit of commendation and we only hope this will inspire others to do same for they will be rewarded for their good works. The Black Stars equaled Africas record at the World Cup by making it to the quarter finals of the 2010 edition in South Africa while the Black Satelites won Africas first ever world cup at that level in Egypt 2009. The playing bodies of both teams and coach Sellas Tetteh in the U-20s case will receive the honour of the Companion of the Order of the Volta, while the technical and management teams also receive the Grand Medal. The awards forms part of Ghanas 51st Republic Day celebrations and would be awarded by President Atta-Mills.
