Black Stars Drop Again In Latest FIFA Ranking

Ghana�s Black Stars have slipped three places to the 36th position in the latest world rankings. The Black Stars are now the third ranked team on the Africa continent behind Cote d�Ivoire and Egypt, according to the latest rankings released on Wednesday by the world soccer governing body, Federation of International Football Associations (FIFA). According to the latest rankings culled by GNA Sports from the FIFA secretariat, the Stars lost three points to 696 points with Egypt remaining on 735 points to overtake the Stars at the second spot in the continental rankings. Cote d�Ivoire also did not lose any point staying at the summit with 922 points. From the records, the Stars have thus lost 39 points over the last 60-days in a month after they beat Congo 3-1 in the 2012 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier on June 3 before losing 1-2 to South Korea in an international friendly four days later. In April, the Stars were ranked 15th in the world and number one in Africa before dropping to 33rd in the May rankings. Cote d�Ivoire is also the only African team in the top 20 in the world. The other rankings are; Burkina Faso (661 points), Nigeria (635 points), Senegal (619 points), South Africa (597 points), Cameroon (595 points), Algeria (575 points) and Tunisia (553) complete the top 10 ranked teams in Africa. World champions Spain maintained their place at the apex of the global standings with Netherlands, Germany, Brazil, Uruguay, England, Portugal, Italy, Croatia and Argentina in that order in the top 10.
