Man Kills Brother

A disagreement between two brothers over an electricity meter they both use in their house has resulted in the senior one murdering the younger one at Sampa Village, near Weija in the Ga South municipality. The incident took place late Saturday evening. Information available to Daily Guide revealed that the two, Daniel Abotsi, 30, and Ernest Abotsi, 24, both picked a knife to stab each other but during the scuffle, Daniel stabbed the brother in the stomach. Daniel, together with his wife, allegedly conveyed the dying man to the hospital with their vehicle but they abandoned him half way and lodged a complaint to the police against the deceased. Upon finally reaching the Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital with the victim, he was pronounced dead. Confirming the story to Daily Guide, the commander in charge of the Weija District Police Command, ASP K. Gyesi Afari, said Daniel and Ernest Abotsi both lived in their fathers house with their families. For more than two years, the two families have not been on talking terms. On July 23, 2011, around 11pm, a quarrel ensued between the two brothers over an electricity meter. As a result, they both picked a knife to stab each other. The deceased, Ernest, allegedly used his knife to scratch the back of the suspect but the suspect, according to information, chased the brother to a distance and stabbed him deeply in the stomach. The suspect, along with his wife Veronica Tsidi, allegedly put his dying brother into his Kia Rio taxi cab with registration number GW 1824-09, under the pretext of taking Ernest to the hospital. They however abandoned him a distance away from the police station and lodged a complaint against him. At the station, he stated that his brother had stabbed him with a knife and so he was issued a medical form to go to the hospital for treatment. The Weija District Commander confirmed that the next morning, the wife of the deceased, Linda Nyame aka Mame Yaa, also came to the police station to lodge a complaint that the husband had been stabbed by the senior brother, thus contradicting the suspects claim. Suspect Daniel Abotsi, according to the Weija police chief, bolted after the victim was pronounced dead at the Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital that fateful day. With the help of the Bartor Police in the Volta Region, the Weija police managed to arrest the suspect who was seeking asylum with his mother in law. He said the suspect would be put before court soon while the docket is sent to the Attorney Generals office for advice.
