Nana Konadu Is Not Forming A Political Party Kofi Adams

Spokesperson for Former President Jerry John Rawlings and Deputy General Secretary of the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC), Kofi Adams has debunked media reports that the former first lady Nana Konadu Agyeman-Rawlings is forming a political party and could possibly break away from the NDC. Several Newspapers have reported that that Nana Konadu would form her own party ahead of the 2012 elections due to the bitterness associated with her defeat in the NDC presidential primaries at Sunyani last month. Mr. Kofi Adams also said on Asempa FM on Monday that Former President Rawlings would also not quit active politics as speculated. It is not true that the former first family has intentions of retiring from politics - they are still politicians and will remain as such, Mr. Adams maintained. He said the Rawlingses are still members of the NDC but could not tell whether they will campaign for Mills in the next elections. Kofi Adams said Former president Rawlings would be silent on Ghana politics because his mandate as the African Unions Ambassador to Somalia had been extended and he is also writing a book about his life, Ghana and his tenure as Head of State. He could however not tell whether president Mills consults ex-president Rawlings on issues of governance or not, but insisted the NDC still remained united and may run a difficult race in 2012 but would emerge victorious.
